Green tea contains antioxidants - as do all teas, but Green tea being an unfermented tea - and Black tea being fully fermented - so the antioxidant properties differs to those of Black and Oolong teas. The Black tea antioxidants contain polyphenols from complex flavenoids - these are thearubigins and theaflavins.
However the Green tea polyphenols contain catechins - these make up the compound ECGC which certain hospitals in America use to treat cancer patients when conventional treatment is not possible.
Green tea - because of its rich antioxidant levels - can play a part in any diet or slimming programme. And will also help protect the body from illnesses - as it can stimulate the bodies immune system.
